Basic Introduction
I love the challenge to create complex pieces with a particular passion for liner lock folding knives. I have a passion for the process of creating a well-crafted handmade knife as much as for the final product itself. All my knives are completely hand-made and are my own artistic impression of a particular type of knife. I carry and extensively test my own knives. As a part-time maker my emphasis is on continuous improvement and lasting quality. Because of limited time I make only a limited number of knives per year.
1st Knife
Favourite Steel
Damasteel, RWL 34, N690 and Damascus steel by renowned makers.
Favourite Handle Materials
Exotic materials like mammoth ivory. Carbon fibre, African hardwoods and stabilized burl/resin hybrids. Mokume Gane, Timascus and Damascus for bolsters.
Signature product
Liner lock folders.
Technical
All materials are sourced from well-known, reliable and established suppliers to the industry. I source exotic materials, like mammoth ivory and Fatcarbon from international sellers. All steel is meticulously heat treated and tempered by me according to manufacturer specifications and recognized proven methods.
The future
My aim is to continue to make high quality knives to last a lifetime and to qualify as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of South Africa.
